Back from West Virginia

Well i'm back in NC, home safe and sound from my first exposure to USA convention life. West Virginia is so beautiful. The hills reminded me of home which was very lovely. America is a BIG country...we drove for about seven hours each way and barely made a mark on the landmass. Big. And kinda samey. I miss town centres, i miss going places where it's not just a slew of McDonalds, KFC, Taco Bell and Wendys. I like it though. And summer lasts more than a week!

So here are some highlights from Charleston, West Virginia.

Weeping through the end of the Tenth grade Bible memorization final. It seems i can't handle hearing 2 Timothy 4:1-8 back to back more than three times. I'm glad about that though.

The preaching on the last night from Tim York. He took us through how every book of the Bible was about Christ, quickly, in the midst of his exposition of Ephesians 5. I was just about to get up and cheer by the end of it.

Meeting a missionary who has a kid called Shaeffer. This opens the door, i think, for me to call our kids Piper, Carson and Spurgeon. No?

The missionary commissioning service. More weeping involved there as well.

Attending business meetings. Voting to change the way we fund overseas missionaries. 'Some of y'all don't want brothers, you want twins.'

Good times with regional pastors. Planning to work out a way to mentor younger men. Yes please.

Fellowship with brothers, including some great one liners... I'm glad Christ is coming for a bride not a hareem.

Books. Thank God for Crossway. Literally.

Coming home to Naomi Skull's prayer letter, my first piece of post from the UK, complete with tea bag.
