Did you ever meet, or hear of, anyone who was converted from skepticism to a "liberal" or "demythologized" Christianity? I think that when unbelievers come in at all, they come in a good deal further.

That's because liberal Christianity and an ordinary secular worldview are essentially the same. No conversion needed. I think people do wander into those churches and then out again without any real commitment. But that's because there is no fundamental clash of worldviews going on.
